I can assist with a wide range of mental health issues, from mild to severe, including stress, depression, emotion dysregulation, grief, trauma, abuse, and hearing voices, amongst others.
I have a strong interest in working with people with cultural and/or spiritual concerns.
Supervision
I provide clinical supervision to psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to support high-quality care.
Organisations
I have extensive experience providing support for healthcare professionals, business leaders and employees in health organisations, NGOs, and companies. Issues may include moral distress, fatigue, ‘burn out’, and life choices.
Experience
I am a registered consultant clinical psychologist with over thirty years of experience in individual psychotherapy, group therapy and clinical supervision.
I have worked in a range of public health services in New Zealand, including
- child and adolescent mental health services
- rehabilitation and specialist psychotherapy services for psychosis and personality issues
- Māori mental health services and other indigenous services
- cancer support services
- leadership roles, including Pou Arihi at Te Toka Tumai, Auckland Hospital
I have worked collaboratively and in an integrated manner with people from diverse backgrounds, including children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families, as well as those struggling with significant medical illnesses and end-of-life matters.
Approach
My training and work experience cover a variety of settings both in South Africa and New Zealand, ranging from brief-term crisis management to long-term individual psychotherapy.
My clinical and organisational experiences have led to extensive supervision work with both mental health professionals such as psychologists, psychotherapists and counselors, as well as healthcare professionals, including medical registrars, GPs, and medical specialists, either individually or in group supervision.

- cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- emotionally focused therapy for couples (EFT)
